| Hurricane Offshore Classic National Championship October 5 - 7, 2001 Flowmaster wins first place in the Super Cat Light Outboard Class!
Flowmaster wins again in our hometown of St. Petersburg! Due to MacDill Air Force Base's "no fly" zone, the course was shortened from 6 miles to 4.5 miles. This changed the Super Cat Light class lap counts from 13 to 17. The boat ran great in the relatively calm water and the boys and the boat loved the turns! Usually Todd and Mike run Super Cat Light Outboard against Steve Gerlack in his boat, Blondie. On Saturday, Todd raced with Steve in a rented bat boat named Dagwood in the Outlaw V class. This was Todd's and Steve's first race in a bat boat and they won! Flowmaster set up a tent and had a party Friday night with ribs, chicken, pork, etc. A good time was had by all! Mike missed most of the party as he was working with Billy of Sisco, a local plastics fabrication company, to make a new scuba tank bracket. But what a beautiful bracket it is! Saturday was spent hanging around the tent, signing autographs and T-Shirts and watching the races. Spectators stopped by to check out the boat and the 4 motorcycles in front of the tent. Todd had his green motorcycle and our friends from Zipp Express had three motorcycles. The most popular one was painted like an American flag. There was also an orange one and a purple one. Flowmaster raced in the second race of the day on Sunday. Todd's family and friends took his 50' Sea Ray out to watch the race, while the crew took the scooters to The Pier to watch. It was great to see them get the checkered flag right in front of The Pier. For a few seconds we thought both Todd and Mike might go for a swim! The awards banquet was held Sunday night at the Vinoy. Flowmaster was awarded 4 trophies! They won the St. Pete Race, Best Display for St. Pete Race, and National Champions for both 2000 and 2001. Sunday was also Todd's son Tyler's 5th Birthday! Todd and Mike would like to thank their crew for this race, Leslie Fox-Anderson and Erik Taber, with help from Joey Casciato.
