FORCE Gold Cup Offshore Championships

September 27 - 30, 2001

Race cancelled due to weather conditions

FORCE Gold Cup Championships

Mother Nature just didn't cooperate this weekend.  The Super Vee Light, Outlaw A, B, V, Factory 1, Performance 2, 3, 4 and 5 classes that were scheduled to race Saturday were postponed until Sunday.  About midway through their race, the wind picked up, the rain came down and the racing got rough.  Several boats broke and had to be towed in.  Several of the turn boats (LARGE cruiser type boats) left their positions and came in to drop off seasick passengers.  By this time, the Sunday racers, Super Cat, Super Vee, Super Cat Light Inboard and Outboard, Factory 2, had craned into the water and were waiting for the pace boat to lead them out on the 20-minute idle to the course.  Unfortunately, the news from officials was that the race was cancelled due to the bad weather and the lack of support boats (both tow vessels and turn boats).  What a disappointment!

We still had a good time, partying with our friends from Zipp Express:  Dan & Dawn Francis (newlyweds!), Neil and Brenda, Rick, and Chuck and Jeff (Leslie's Yagermeister buddies).  Todd's family (wife Michele and sons Tyler and Brandon) came along and the boys amused themselves by jumping in puddles!

Flowmaster, Zipp Express and Nortech sponsored the event T-Shirt and Zipp Express sponsored the event poster.  Todd also helped out the Kids In Distress organization by bidding $500.00 for a Cigarette jacket, then giving it  back so it could be auctioned again!

Todd and Mike would like to thank their crew for this race, Leslie Fox-Anderson and Erik Taber.
